Travelling to Japan

Saturday, February 26th, 2005

This news from SMH claims that Japan is giving a personal digital assistant (PDA) to tourists. Still a trial, hopefully it will become permanent. What’s amazing is the PDA has maps, navigation system, language helper, and telephone!

I want to go to Japan.

Someday…

Hironobu Sakaguchi to create Xbox 2 games

Friday, February 25th, 2005

Hiro who? Well he’s the producer/creator of most Final Fantasy games. A guy that I’ve admired for creating good games (I’m a fan of FF, eventhough I haven’t played most of the newer ones).
Well, according to this CNet news article, he has left Square-Enix, and created his own game company. And he’s making 2 titles exclusive to Xbox 2 (the next generation of Xbox).
Eventhough I don’t own any consoles (PS2, Xbox), I’m still excited by what he can create.

Upgraded website

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2005

You might notice that the website looks has changed. This is because I had database problem earlier, then I thought it could be the software problem. So without doing too much research, I downloaded the latest and greatest version of WordPress. Turns out the problem is something else, but the upgrade has been so easy that I’m glad I did it.

One of the noticeable new features is the ability to easily set the theme for the website. I’m still using the default theme, but that might change according to my whim. Bwa-haha-haha (if that doesn’t sound like evil laughter, something’s is wrong with your ear).

MKC

Sunday, February 20th, 2005

Yesterday (Saturday 19th Feb) 10 of us went to Men’s Katoomba Convention. About 1000 of guys from all over Australia were there. The speakers talked about balancing your relationship with God and your work. Some of the main points are:

  • We are first and foremost a Christian, then we are our professions. (For me, I am first a Christian, then I am a software developer).
  • We server our Lord Jesus whenever or whatever we are at our workplace. That means no slacking, and doing our job wholeheartedly. Hmmm I admit sometimes it’s tough :)
  • Whatever we do is meaningless (from that poetic book Ecclesiastes). Only what we do for the Lord is eternal (telling people the news about eternal life).

If you went to last Saturday’s or are going to next Saturday’s meeting and have more points, you can put them in the discussion.
Yep, if you haven’t gone to last Saturday’s, you can still go to next Saturday’s convention. There will be some more people from our church who will go there.

Unhealthy unemployment

Friday, February 18th, 2005

This news says that involuntary unemployment might be bad for heart.

Not sure if this news is useful or not, since the unemployed will just be more worried and stressed after reading it…

I think the best way would be for the unemployed is to make use of their time wisely (so they are not stressed), like cleaning my apartment…
Or studying the Bible, or organise something,…

PS: Amel, are you still unemployed? Be wary… plus my apartment needs cleaning.

Anime report

Wednesday, February 2nd, 2005

Here’s a report from CNet about the current state of anime fan-subbing and some legal issues.

I think, if you enjoy anime, esp. the free fan-subbed version downloaded from internet, buying the legal DVD once it’s distributed in your country will help anime culture growing. Don’t bite the hands that feed.
